We offer a variety of ways that end-users without IT skills and IT personnel can send data into or out of our system.
Import/Export
Using comma delimited (CSV) files, produced by Excel, Access, many Accounting and other packages and many home-grown systems, end-users can import landmarks or orders.
With file export, comma delimited files can be created and downloaded to Excel, Access, billing/accounting, and many other systems.
With automatic Excel file creation, Reports in Report Builder can be downloaded and created directly in Excel format with a couple of clicks.
E-mail and SMS
Reports and Alerts can be generated automatically with our Scheduled Reports or Alerts feature. Users can manually or programmers can automatically captures these messages and use them for further analysis or processing.
Web Services Interface
Our Web Services Interface enables IT personnel to interface existing CAD (computer aided dispatch), customer service, CRM, SFA, ERP and other packages and home-grown systems in real-time with GPS Tracker and GPS Forms. The Web Services Interface uses standard protocols like HTTPS, XML, WSDL, and SOAP. Queries and results are authenticated and encrypted.
The Location API allows another system to request the current location (e.g. Latitude, Longitude, Address, Speed) of any user. For example, you may have an existing computer aided dispatch system that simply needs to know the location of a handset in order to dispatch the nearest worker using your existing system. Or you may want to automatically trigger a report for further analysis
The Forms API allows another system to generate an order automatically or retrieve a reply automatically. For example, you can interface to your existing CRM system, send orders from your customer order entry systems directly to the phone without intermediate manual dispatch, and retrieve results directly to your existing systems.
Advantages
Portable Internet is easier to integrate with other systems:
- Unlike conventional import/export facilities, Portable Internet exports directly and launches Excel, saving clicks, time and steps.
- Web Services use an XML-driven API, not "legacy" ODBC or other direct database methods, so that your interface is protected from any of our internal database changes. You don't have to risk interface failure, interpret raw data, or change your interface every time our internal database format changes. The result is higher reliability, less programming and less maintenance.
- The Forms API permits orders to be triggered directly into GPS Forms. Updates using more basic interfaces like ODBC are not permitted or can destroy system integrity and introduce major reliability issues.
- Our Web Services Workbench provides a method to test interfaces without a program, speeding interface deployment and reducing development and maintenance costs.
- Our Scheduled Reports via email and SMS alerts provide more flexibility to integrate with your office, front and back office/systems.
