Corporate Backgrounder

Portable Internet, Inc. provides mobile supply chain solutions that integrate sensor-based networks (GPS, barcode scanning, RF-ID), mobile workers, customers and suppliers, and front-and back-end systems with multiple devices and networks. We are a leading provider of handheld GPS Mobile Workforce Management™ services. Over 800 leading customers of all sizes, across many industries, government, and education institutions, have chosen our web-based applications to improve productivity, revenue, profitability, customer service, and safety.

Our portfolio of products and services provide location-enabled tracking, timecards, wireless workflow, and GPS Navigation to help organizations and their customers find out where their resources are, what they are doing, and help accomplish their mission more efficiently and effectively. Our GPS Tracker™ and GPS Forms™ products are transforming the web services and programmable cell phones into wireless workflow systems, using sensors like GPS, bar code scanning, RF-ID, and imaging. With our software and integration components, these devices have become low cost, ubiquitous wide-area terminals, enabling remote management of people, vehicle and things on a scale that ws previously unaffordable.

SimplyPowerful™, our patent-pending Portable Application Technology and proprietary distribution methodologies dramatically improves the ease of use and deployment, response time, time-to-market and return on investment (ROI) of mobile supply chain integration solutions.

Market Opportunity
Due to high equipment costs that inhibit ROI, less than 4% of the 40,000,000 mobile workers in the U.S. have GPS tracking or dispatch/data collection systems. The mobile worker market is one of the last great opportunities in information technology, equal or greater in size to office, factory/warehouse, and retail worker markets.

C.J. Driscoll & Associates projects that by 2009, the US Mobile Resource Management (MRM) Systems market will expand to over $2 billion annually with over 1/3 of that total market being served by GPS-equipped cellular phones and other portable devices. It is estimated that by 2009, over 2 million cellular phones and handheld computers will used for mobile workforce management applications in the US. ABI research projects that by 2011, the total population of GPS-enabled location-based services (LBS) subscribers worldwide will reach 315 Million users.

A huge influx of new, inexpensive, programmable wireless devices has become a key enabler of this growth.

A Vision for the Future
Portable Internet has found  that improving the productivity of the tens of millions of mobile workers requires a new level of powerful software that combines breakthroughs in ease of use, simplicity of deployment, and deep integration. A consistent innovator, Portable Internet deployed the first mass market GPS Tracking, flexible Wireless Workflow, and GPS wireless navigation systems. Reaching these customers requires new types of enterprise software distribution and deployment, and we have built methodologies and a network of wireless network operator, integrator, telesales and direct sales to efficiently address the enormous market opportunity.

Unique Technology
The company's Portable Application Technology™ (PAT) is a patent pending, proprietary software technology. PAT integrates the web, wireless devices, sensor-based networks (e.g. RF-ID, bar codes, GPS), and distributed web services across multiple networks, front and back office systems, and location-based content. It has been engineered to reliably and economically support thousands of high-volume, sensor-enabled applications on millions of mobile devices and web clients with sub-second response time.

PAT enables end-users, without I/T skills and often without training, to create, customize and deploy reliable, sophisticated wireless workflow applications across their entire supply chain Ð in minutes. PAT's distributed processing features automatically allocate data and business rules across systems and devices to dramatically improve response time, efficiency, scalability, and reliability while reducing customization and deployment skills.

Leveraging the Reach of Major Partners
Portable Internet is partnering with wireless network operators like Nextel®, hardware providers like Motorola®, Integrators, VARS, and location-based content providers, to bring its products and services to this massive market. Our bi-lateral partnerships help us and our partners leverage each other's install bases to drive sales and customer satisfaction.
